ABOUT
LINDSAY
Lindsay Tanner has lived in the Melbourne Electorate and been a member of
the Australian Labor Party for over 25 years. He is committed to social justice
and has held a number of Shadow portfolios in his time as Federal Member
of Parliament for Melbourne and is currently the Minister for Finance and Deregulation in the Rudd Government. Lindsay Tanner is a devoted father of four.
Aside from his work as MP, Lindsay is an accomplished author, has a passion
for reading and for playing the piano.
Curriculum Vitae
Born April 24, 1956 in Orbost, Victoria Educated at Orbost State School
and on tuition scholarship at St. Annes and Gippsland Grammar School, Sale.
Dux of school 1973.
Studied Law and Arts at University of Melbourne 1974-81, graduating with
First Class Honours in Law, Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts. Master of
Arts thesis focussed on politics and culture in Brunswick in the 1920's.
Lindsay currently resides in Alphington. He previously resided in North
Melbourne (1975-76), Carlton/North Carlton (1977-84), Elwood
(1984-89) and Brunswick (1989-2003).
Interests include playing the piano, singing, reading, following football,
cricket, soccer and various other sports.
Lindsay is married to Andrea with whom he has two daughters. Lindsay also
has a daughter and a son from a previous marriage.
